Programs Tailor Made for All Needs
The Sooke Strings Orchestra is open to students in both middle school and high school. Our emphasis is on instrument technique and ensemble skills, with students participating in large ensemble rehearsals and instrument sectionals. Learn more.
New to strings? Then this is the group for you. Focussing on note-reading, basic music theory and learning to play either violin, viola or cello. No experience is needed to join this ensemble. Students in the beginning string ensemble also get the opportunity to join the Sooke String Orchestra in some performances. Learn more.
For those students looking for a challenge we have a smaller chamber ensemble. Performing in a small groups (quartets, etc.) students focus on individual musicianship and work more independently. Students involved in this advanced group will also perform with the full string orchestra.
The Harmony Project Sooke is modelled after the award-winning Harmony Project in Los Angeles, California that promotes positive youth development through year-round music lessons and ensemble participation. Check out our brochure here!
